MORE LIES, MORE MONEY

Juliet was walking home from the market where she went to purchase some items after withdrawing some money from the bank. Someone walked up to her from behind and taped her shoulders. She turned and before her stood a dark-skinned, average-height young man wearing a white-stained shirt with a brown long pant. "My name is Frank. Please, my products just came in and I have to clear it with the customs office; but I don’t have the money to do that. Please can you help me with some money to clear the goods? I will pay you back with interest. Because I have some papers that I usually wash with liquid mercury; and when I wash it, it will give me currencies"; Frank said. Juliet did not consider the interest; all she was concerned about was how to help the young man out of his predicament with the remaining part of her school fees which she withdrew from the bank, considering how wretched he looked. So she obliged him and the young man took her to a house where he resides, showed her the papers and the liquid mercury and he "washed" some papers for her to see. When she saw how the paper changed to money, she was hopeful that her money would be returned to her. So she handed the money over to him and the guy asked her to wait in the house while he goes out to buy more mercury and wash more papers. After some time, he came back with a big box filled with money in the company of another man whom he introduced as a pastor. He said the pastor had something to tell her. She listened carefully. The pastor gave her an egg and told her to rub it all over her body so that all the filthy things within her would be cleansed and then she should break it. She obeyed as instructed and when she broke the egg, to her surprise, she saw a stone and an insect inside the egg. She was so shocked; all she could think of was how such things came out of her. The pastor also told her, that she has a bright future,

INCONVENIENCE TO IMPRESS

People say life is hard; but come to think of it, sometimes we make life very difficult for ourselves. When someone is going through tough times, we can say life is hard for the person. But what if someone can afford the life of luxury and don’t want to keep it simple. Many people believe that you should flaunt whatever you have. I am not talking about our body assets this time, but the material things we have. How do you explain a situation where someone who has some money and decides to spend it on buying phones and gadgets? The person could buy maybe four phones because he or she can afford it. Now, you cannot spend so much money buying four phones without showing them off or showcasing them as people would say. So you go out for a party or a meeting taking the four phones with you, which of course is not so easy to carry. When you get there and you are given a seat. You are not going to leave the phones in your pockets, you will bring them out on display, because that is the whole idea of carrying them all in the first place, most especially when such phones are the latest. After displaying them for some time, your friends come to the meeting and you have to greet them; you cannot leave the phones on the table, otherwise someone might take it. You will have to carry all of them, just to shake hands or hug your friends. When you are called to present a speech, you have to go through the stress of carrying the four phones to the podium for the presentation of speech, and then you carry them back to your seat when you are done. Do you really think you can enjoy your meeting or party that way?

WHY SPEND IT ALL?

I had no dime on me. It was so bad that the food I was eating had finished even to the last grocery I had. When some money came into my account, I did not make a list. I just withdrew it, and went to the market to get the stuffs. I got some food stuffs that I had in mind before the money came in. But then I saw some cakes, cosmetics and some jewelry that I liked, I bought them too, even when I did not plan for them. I ended up spending almost all the money I had. But that did not matter to me because someone else promised to send money to me; so that gave me some sense of security to spend the one I had. But later to my greatest surprise, I got a call from the person that he will not be able to send it to me as planned. I was so confused and devastated. I wished I saved something from the last one I had.

Saving your money does not mean that you do not have the ability to "flex" as some people would think. It means that you are wise enough to know that there are times there might be nothing coming in and you can fall back on the one you have left. Many people have the mentality of impressing others by spending all they have in an extravagant way. Guys spend for their girls or other girls without having a percentage saved for the rainy day. Guys have been dared to spend just to see the biggest spender among them and they end up becoming bankrupt. That is why it is important to get rid of people who do not contribute positively to your life, because they end up taking you away from your achievements.
