MAKE YOUR BOSS YOUR FRIEND

People always say it is not appropriate to have a friendly relationship with your boss
because professionalism and ethics. But I don’t think that is totally correct. Having a form of friendship with them will help you to understand better what they expect you to do. It opens more opportunities for you and more exposure in your place of work. You become the favored one as your salaries and allowances might increase as a result of such friendship. There are ways you can make your boss like you;

You have to understand the nature of your job and do it to the best of your ability. This will spare your boss the stress of having to supervise it all the time and concentrate on more critical issues because your sense of judgment can be trusted.

You have to see your boss as  human who would like to communicate and not as a robot that codes will be used to execute commands. Knowing how your boss will like to communicate with you will be a good idea because it helps in building a good friendship.

Respect is important in establishing a good relationship. Some things should not be taken for granted. Talk less and think more. If you do not like the way your boss treats you, you can sit down with him or her and discuss it out. It is better than discussing it with other people because it will not solve the problem, but instead, it might give the impression that you are not a loyal employee.

Everyone has dreams, goals and ambition; and that includes your boss. Your job is to make things easier by reasoning in the same direction as him and see how you can contribute in making that happen.

Be creative with new ideas and incentives on how to improve the organization. Some little projects you can handle on your own without the help of your boss. This will prove that you have the ability to think for yourself and for the organization and that can be attributed to leadership quality too.

Bosses have personal lives. There must be something they love doing outside work. Get to know what that is; join them at their time of recreation. Have an idea of the type of books they read and the games they play. This will give you a chance to prove your skills to them.

Let your goals be aligned with the goals and objectives of the company or organization. It will help you to understand the importance of your boss in developing you into an employee that is most valued. Ask questions that will motivate others to put their ideas into achieving the long-term goals of the company.

These are the basic ways; although there might be others depending on the temperament of your boss. And remember that most times, favor is not a miracle we pray for; it is a product of conduct and a reward of appropriate behavior.
