Change can be in both ways, positively or negatively;
as long as there is a paradigm shift; but as an advocate of positivism, as
people would say "look on the bright side". An agent is someone who
works for someone, something, an entity or organization, a representative.
Every individual has hidden strength, purpose,
destiny and potentials, discovered or not. It is so discouraging to know how
people have died without self-discovery. We all have what it takes to make the
world a better place. Sometimes is not about knowing all the verses of the
scriptures or praying and shouting to the heavens, opening your windows the way
Daniel did. It is not about going to the best theological seminary or Bible
school before you can make an impact. It is not by the laying of hands on your
head and by the utterance of tongues before you feel equipped to make a
difference. But as little as it may sound, have you thought about the next door
neighbor who cries every morning out of pain, out of hunger and depression, and
you have gotten so used to the sound, that you see it as an alarm? What about
the woman in your work place who wear the same dress or set of dresses every
day? You can actually tell how her wardrobe looks like without visiting her
apartment. What about the gate-man whose shoes have worn out and cannot afford
to buy another pair? What did you do about the two friends that quarrel all the
time in your compound that has made headlines and topic for gossip around town
and you can even tell when next a quarrel would be triggered?
Change is a state of dynamism, where something that
has been becomes altered, no longer following the normal cause. An agent of
change does not need to have it all figured out, becoming a professor, having
the knowledge of the books on psychology. Sometimes, it does not require formal
education to make a difference. In the same way, let your light shine before
others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matt
5:16)
A sense of satisfaction and inner peace we get when
someone tells us, everything will be alright is all that is needed. There is an
indelible mark an agent of change makes that turns things around. An agent of
change is never satisfied when things are wrong. We keep our minds on the big
things and forget that it is the little things that make up the big things. Some
are waiting for special recognition and certificate awarded to them tagged
"agent of change" before they can be convinced they are the best
candidate for the job. It is not about what people call you, but what you call
yourself. The extents you can go to make the world a better place is not
determined by how people have graded you. Most times they are wrong, but we believe
them because we lack in self-discovery. Some people wait for that motivational
message or videos that would make them jump for their seats and feel they can
touch the sky. You only become an agent of something, a representative of
something, when that thing has worked for you and affected you, because you
cannot represent what you know nothing about. Do not wait for the pastor to
call you out and recognize your services in the house of God before you get a
confirmation that you are an agent of change. You have been saved to save
others.
