Nadia's mother was giving Nadia a bath.
The little girl hates water touching her hair; it makes her so scared because
she does not like water draining down to her face. She never
liked water touching her face because she has to close her eyes to avoid water entering it. This has been
going on for a long time, until her mother decided that she must overcome that
fear. So she took her to the bathroom, bolted the door, put her in the
bathtub, and poured water on her hair and face. Nadia kept crying profusely,
her mother kept pouring despite the tears. She kept telling her "what are
you scared of? Is it killing you? It is just water, get use to it because you
must overcome this fear". But Nadia kept crying. After sometime, the
crying started reducing until she stopped, then her mother stopped pouring her
the water. Nadia now tells her mother that she is ready to take her bath. She
undresses herself and goes to the bathroom to wait for her.
I noticed that even the bravest of all men always have one thing he
is scared of or cannot
face. For some of us, it could be a phobia
for some certain things, like height or being in the dark; for some others it
could be stage fright, not being able to walk in the midst of people for fear
of being noticed, having a low self-esteem; while for others, it could be the
fear of facing some difficult challenges. Some of the things that we are scared of, could be what will boost us to our success, but we cannot achieve that
unless we face them. To face them, that is where we need faith. Having faith
sometimes, is not because we have it all figured out, but even in the midst of
the fears, we believe that we can go through it and make it.
You have to know that you have all it takes to overcome that fear.
You have to know that whatever it is, other people have gone through it and they
came out successful. You have to know that you can choose to be scared and you
can choose not to. You have to know that you will never know until you try.
